A quiet postal correspondance. A handwritten exchange. A small sacred space for your thoughts & stories. A slower more meaningful way to communicate.

It all started when…
I was about 9 years old and I had the opportunity to write to a penpal in Spain. We would send each other letters, usually with a stick of chewing gum inside. We would write about what life was like in our countries. I recall they had a religious celebration, and I began asking my mother all kinds of questions about what they meant, as it was so different to what I had experienced.
This penpal lapsed when we moved away from the area. Then teenage life took hold and other interests and hobbies were at the front. Then as an adult I was drawn back to swapping postcards, with some becoming long term international friends.
There is something joyous about paper, and envelopes being ripped open. A stamp with different pictures, symbols and currency. To read and flip the page, to hold something in your hand. Allowing the words to filter and tumble, pausing and returning back to them again and again. Crumpled from reading and stuffed into pockets. The anticipation of a response.
Within my day to day practice here at Meadowsweet Wellbeing, I hold people’s words in sacred space, in complete confidentiality, and reverance for what they are going through, seeking, or are just overwhelmed, and unsure about.
I’m observing how our digital world, is becoming so fast paced. Content churned out at a nano second. Screens affecting our eyesight, our circadian rythms, comparsion, and occasional inspiration but more often it leaves us a little more hollow than when we began. With feelings of isolation, confusion and uncertainty.
I thought how can I help, maybe there is a new way to be seen and heard. Not just here in the UK but internationally as well. One day out on a nature walk, the sky a backdrop of crisp blue, air fresh with coolness. I formulated my idea to launch a unique and special correspondance service. Something that connects you back to the ways of old but with a modern flair. I can’t promise a stick of chewing gum, but maybe a seasonal sprig or pressed flower along with a thoughtful hand written reply.
Each letter is a self-contained ritual. A moment to pause. A way to write what you feel, but struggle to share. If you would like to to join and are curious to know more. Do click B O O K / Y O U R / L E T T E R / link below.
Please note this is not a therapy or counselling service. If you are suffering greatly with deeper mental health struggles, even suicide then I do have a list of pathway organistaions and providers that I can send you, for you to seek professional guidance and help.
